OUR TYPES OF ADVENTURES
These tours are a great introduction to travelling by foot. We take you to destinations where hiking is the main event, but where there’s plenty of unique exploring to do through other activities.
Rich in exoticism, history and culture, these tours satisfy the hiker and the explorer in you! Most of the hiking is done in low or moderate altitudes, except for a few passes or summits that can reach up to 4,000 meters.
Travellers carry only a day backpack, while a team on site transports the rest of the equipment. Nights are spent in a hut, tent, lodge or small inn when we’re hiking.
These trips are done mainly in moderate altitudes, except for a few passes that can reach up to 5,500 meters. Hikers can travel independently for up to one week; nights are spent in a “lodge” or tent. Travellers carry only a day backpack, while a team on site transports the rest of the equipment. These journeys are relatively comfortable, considering the remoteness of the destinations.
TREKS & SUMMITS
These treks involve ascending one or more moderate-altitude summits (+/- 5,000 meters) or high mountains (6,000 meters and higher) over several days of hiking. The summit isn’t the primary objective, but rather a rewarding cherry on top of the sundae. Travellers carry only a day backpack, except when ascending summits. The rest of the equipment is transported by a team on site. These treks are relatively comfortable, considering the remoteness of the destinations. Nights are spent in a “lodge” or tent.
These expeditions are done in moderate altitude (+/- 5,000 meters) and high mountains (6,000 meters and higher), where most of your effort is dedicated to reaching the summit. Comfort is limited, but reasonable, given the environment. Most nights are spent in a tent, except to start and finish the trip. Travellers carry their personal gear during the ascent. The group’s equipment will be transported by animals and/or porters.
These tours involve cycling trails and small roads, covering larger regions, on mountain or gravel bikes. Just as on the longer treks, our team manages the encampments for each leg of the journey and transports your personal gear during cycling days.
This is our ”signature” line—unique, original and exotic trips that we offer once in a blue moon. This is where we get to be really creative and realize some of our wildest dreams. Deeply rooted in the spirit of travel and true adventure, these tours require travellers to be open-minded and highly committed, both mentally and physically. Take advantage of these trips while they’re available!
THE TERRA ULTIMA DESTINATIONS
Between the Himalayas and the Karakoram range in the highest mountains in the world, there is a small kingdom nicknamed « Little Tibet » where the average altitude is 4,000 metres. On this high plateau surrounded by perpetually snowy peaks, life goes on through the seasons punctuated only by Buddhist religious ceremonies. There is a commanding contrast between the muted and mystical interior of the monasteries, lighted only by little yak butter lamps, and the enormity of the vast plateaus flooded with sunlight. After the colourful uproar of Delhi, Ladakh seems to belong to another dimension characteristic of high-altitude places. Climbing Stok Kangri (6,137 metres) will be a fitting end to our trek through the Markha Valley. Then we will return to Leh, the capital of this marvellous region, to complete our trip with the must-sees of Delhi, Agra and, of course the mythical Taj Mahal.
Mt Kilimandjaro rises like a solitary giant above the savage plains of Kenya and Tanzania. Climbing this imposing mountain is no small feature and it is rewarded by sublime panoramas all along the way. Here we approach the ascent by the Shira route that begins west of the Shira plateau. The many days of this itinerary between 3000 and 4700 meters will create optimal conditions for the body to acclimatize to this high altitude environment and increase your chances of getting to the summit ! We have planned two excursions on the flancs of nearby Mt. Meru and its surroundings for you to get to know the local culture better and also acclimatize, and most importantly done at the rhythm and pace of the inhabitants of the region.
The adventurers will also be seduced by a spectacular safari in the Serengeti National Park et the Ngorongoro Crater to observe herds of wild animals in their natural environment. And at the end of our trip, we are giving you the opportunity to do a short visit to the idyllic island of Zanzibar, jewel of the Indian Ocean.
A trek in the Himalayas on a quest for their eternal majesty, besides the great challenge that is, can be a pilgrimage for the soul, a personal milestone to reach. A trek in Nepal is the ultimate, the sublime, still the most beautiful hymn there is to the magnificence of the planet, an unending collection of images that will never leave us.
This is what you will realize when you reach the Mount Everest base camp, when you travel through two valleys in the Solu Khumbu region connected by the Cho La at more than 5,000 metres of altitude. Seeing Sagarmatha, Mount Everest, the highest summit in the world, from Gokyo Ri and Kala Patthar, which is already at more than 5,500 metres of altitude, is a unique moment that stands tall among your finest memories !
This trip also means going to Kathmandu, meeting the Nepalese people and experiencing the rich culture of this mountainous country.
At 5,642 metres, Mount Elbrus is the the highest summit on the European continent if we consider that the Ural Mountains, the most eastward, are what truly separate Asia and Europe. This dormant volcano, according to ancient mythology, is where Zeus enchained Prometheus, the Titan who stole fire from the gods to give it to humans.
This mountain, the climbing of which is considered technically easy, still provides a sizable challenge because we will be going up to more than 5,000 metres, and the weather conditions can be capricious in that part of the Caucasus Mountains. Before the ascent, we will trek through the beautiful neighbouring mountains of the northern side of the mountain. Our itinerary also includes visits to the historical jewels of western Russia, Moscow and St. Petersburg.
The Tour Mont Blanc is one of the most popular long-distance hiking trails in Europe. It crosses three countries on three different slopes of the massif: the Italian slope with its grand rock faces, the Swiss slope with its soft valleys and the French slope where immense glaciers flow. Our approach is to do it via an alternate route, further away from busy routes and accompanied by a muleteer guide, since we’ll be on our own for carrying our luggage ! The Tour Mont Blanc is an opportunity to experience the warm ambiance and welcoming Alpine refuges.
